New Jersey is a winner in olive oil, cracker, vinegar and other food groups in contest

Here's some news to sink your teeth into: New Jersey food companies took top honors in the cracker, vinegar, savory snack and pickled and preserved vegetable category in this year's Specialty Food Association awards.

Ten New Jersey food importers and manufacturers will be presented with 13 awards by the association at its trade show June 30 to July 2 at the Javits Center in New York. The awards, called "sofi", for specialty outstanding food innovation, have been presented by the association for 46 years, since 1972.

This year, a total of 156 products were chosen from close to 3,000 entries to win gold, silver, bronze and best new product awards.
